CASASTART:

Program Overview:

Every other Tuesday afternoon, the children involved in the CASASTART program travel from Lynn up to Gordon College in Wenham to interact with the New City Scholars on campus.  The afternoons are structured to be an intentional group mentoring experience that helps the youth feel comfortable on a college campus and gives them the opportunity to build relationships with college student mentors.

Areas of college access it addresses:

Social Readiness—The interaction of Lynn youth with Gordon students gives the youth a unique opportunity to regularly hang out in a group setting on a college campus.  Activities such as rock climbing, pottery work and group games provide a way for the youth and college students to play together in a positive environment that encourages the youth to consider higher education opportunities for themselves.
