Partnership Overview:

Girls, Inc. is a national non-profit organization dedicated to empowering girls to become Strong, Smart and bold and equipping them with skills to attain responsible and confident adulthood, economic independence and personal fulfillment. Gordon College volunteers are an asset to Lynn’s chapter of Girls, Inc. in many different areas. College essay writing, math tutoring and artistic development were just a few areas showing volunteers’ involvement with the students at Girls, Inc.

Areas of college access it addresses:

Academic Readiness—Gordon students tutor girls in various academic subjects helping them comprehend and master necessary academic skills. In addition, they help tutor college essay writing, an important part of the college application project.

Social Readiness—The interaction of Lynn girls with Gordon students gives the young women a unique opportunity to spend one-on-one time with college students. In the course of their conversations, the girls are able to hear about the college experience, as well as ask any questions they may have about college preparation or life.
