Trio Programs

Because of time constraints, not every program or organization in Lynn that promotes students’ ability to access and achieve success in higher education was included. This work is designed to be the start of a resource directory which can be accessed and updated on this wiki.  You are invited to update and revise the material on this site.

TRIO programs are federally funded programs begun by Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965, initiated as a result of Johnson’s War on Poverty.  They are outreach and support programs targeted to help individuals who come from families of low income and whose parents did not complete college, gain access to higher education.   Lynn has four TRIO programs all hosted by North Shore Community College:

*      Educational Opportunity Center (adults & North Shore area high school students)

*      Educational Talent Search (Lynn Middle and High School Youth)

*      Student Support Services (NSCC enrolled students)

*      Upward Bound (Lynn High School Students)
